Many Try Out, Each Thinking: "She's Got the Look"

Most of the women who tried out Dec. 12 in Manhattan for TV Land ’s reality show, “She’s Got the Look ”, looked to me as if they could be models. They were hoping to get  an agent, an agency, a client and big prize money -- all in one swoop.
"She's Got the Look", which is gearing up for its third season, offers just that: the winner receives $100,000, a contract with the world-famous Wilhelmina Modeling Agency and a spread in SELF magazine. In New York, teachers, actresses, pre-med students, realtors and other women 35 and older tried out.

First, they checked in and waited in a reception room at a hotel on West 34th Street. The women then had to do a runway-style walk and undergo a group interview with two casting agents and two to four other prospective contestants. Those who made it through the first round of interviews were called back for a second interview the next day.

“She's Got the Look” also held casting calls in Los Angeles, Memphis and Columbus, Ohio, and did accept applications online (but now that deadline is closed). An agent at the New York tryouts said people had flown in from as far away as Florida to attend the casting call.

This was the second year in a row that Heather Conrad tried out for a part. A singer and actress who aspires to model, last year she made the first cut, but did not get called back after the second meeting. She feels being cast for the show could help both her acting and singing careers and her fledgling modeling career by getting her more exposure.

Pre-med student Paris Woods also aspires to be a model, so she, too, tried out for the show a second time. But, as hundreds of women found out during the casting, they may have “the look,” but for whatever reason it wasn’t the look that the show’s agents wanted.
