I awoke early and took a cab to the St. Regis. There, I attended the Norman Ambrose trunk show and fell in love with a navy coat that had red hong-kong finish on the inside. In an intimate setting, Norman explained and showed all of his pieces both on the hanger and on the models. The collection had a very country feel and showed off a very nice womanly silhouette, without showing skin. A lady of class would look stunning in his pieces.
Shows: Norman Ambrose, JSong, Eryn Brinnie, Gen Art's Plastics Make It Possible, & Erro.
After that I headed over to the JSong fashion show... and battled a snow storm on the way. Upon arrival, I realized that New Yorkers don't like the snow! Not many people were in attendance and they missed a great show. I loved the monochromatic looks, which matched the free bag everyone was given. The theme seemed to be cut-outs and leaves.
The Eryn Brinnie show was filled with a younger cliental and the models had youthful looks to them. Guests dined and drank apple cider vodkas and a DJ played electro/ house music. Models posed as live mannequins on a long runway and changed positions every so often. Side braids were the theme and makeup was light. The chunky knit sweaters were my favorites, but the coats were also nicely fitted.
Drive In Studios was the venue for Gen Art's Plastics Make It Possible, which was a celebration of the use of plastics in clothing and textiles. Everywhere I looked there were plastics around me... Plastic furniture and Plastic blocks were in roped off areas for the models to pose next to and stand on.
My night would not have been complete without more free champagne... & as soon as I arrived, I was handed a glass. All in black, I seemed to fit right in at the Erro show. The models looked very edgy and rocker chic. Long dark hair with bangs was the trend, but a short haired blonde Asian model stood near the middle and really rocked her outfit. The fabrics varied between knits and leathers. The only thing that made everything so cohesive was the color black. The girls had very tough-girl poses, and looked ready for action.
