I couldn’t help stopping at the “Love Pink” van parked on Fifth Avenue between 21st and 22nd streets in New York yesterday. Staffers from Victoria’s Secret stood alongside it promoting the lingerie company’s new store featuring its “Pink” line. They handed out free stuffed toy dogs to customers who bought five pairs of “Pink” Victoria’s Secret panties for $25 (regularly $9.50 each). The hipsters, bikinis and thongs were organized by size in canvas bins next to the van. I wanted one of the dogs, so bought thong underwear with a stretchy pink band. Other women and men did the same, crowding alongside the van, which also gave out free mini pink-frosted cupcakes to buyers.
Victoria Secret’s first New York City premier store is set to open Saturday, March 13, in Soho at the intersection of Broadway and Prince. The first 250 customers will receive a free limited edition NYC gift. But those who don’t live in or won’t be in New York for the store’s grand opening can still buy the Pink line in mainline Victoria’s Secret stores. For more information see Facebook.com/VSPink
