"Heart of Stone" at Brooklyn Fire Proof East
WeKnow.TV recently reported on a documentary about Bill Cunningham, the New York Times street fashion photographer. Most of you have probably heard about or seen the documentary "The September Issue,” with Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour, about how the renowned fashion magazine put together its largest issue with the help of editors, photographers, stylists, designers and models. New York City is also the setting for a new documentary, “Heart of Stone,” and for the Tribeca Film Festival, which runs April 21 through May 2.
“Heart of Stone” tells the story of Blacks and Jews coming together to regain a high school’s former glory days and address its problems with gangs and low performing students. The documentary film by Beth Toni Kruvant was screened at Brooklyn Fire Proof East April 10, as part of a fundraiser for Trilok Fusion Arts and Trilok Preschool. Both the venue and Trilok Fusion nurture the arts. Brooklyn Fire Proof East boasts a bar and screening room (shown above), and studio space, where recent New York-based reality TV shows have been filmed and produced.
