The 26th Annual Infinity Awards


The 26th Annual Infinity Awards was held recently at Pier Sixty in New York City by the International Center of Photography. The ICP’s Infinity Awards ceremony is also the organizations principal fund-raising event. The revenues collected from ticket sales help fund and support the center's programs, Museum, and the ICP School. Introduced in 1985, the award ceremony was created to honor individuals with outstanding achievements in the field of photography.
Among the a-list guest were editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar Glenda Bailey, American television news journalist and news anchor on NBC's morning television program Today Ann Curry, fashion designer Calvin Klein, and Stefano Tonchi who is the new editor in chief of W magazine. Hosted by Hearst, The 2010 recipients are John G. Morris who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award, Peter Magubane was awarded the Cornell Capa Award, Gilbert C. Maurer/ Hearst Corporation received the ICP Trustees Award, Raphael Dallaporta won the Young Photographer Award, Sarah Greenough received the publication award for her photo book Looking In: Robert Frank’s The Americans, and Luc Sante was awarded for his book Folk Photography, he is also the professor of writing and history of photography at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Other Recipients were Lorna Simpson who was awarded for her achievement in art photography, Reza was the winner of the photojournalism award, and Daniele Tamagni received the Applied/ Fashion/Advertizing Photography award. Recipients were chosen by the ICP’s Board of Trustees, President's Council, and staff for the Lifetime Achievement, Cornell Capa, and Trustees Awards. Other recipients were chosen by a Selection Committee from the submissions of a rotating International Nominating Committee. Guests at the gala were treated to cocktails and dinner created by great chief Mario Batali.
