Eco-Friendly Designers to Watch Now and Next Spring

It’s definitely trendy to dress “green” nowadays. Designers are following suit, creating eco-conscious clothing. Here are the ones to watch:
Ashton Michael Black Label: Think Fergie’s and Britney Spears’ style. They’ve both been dressed by this edgy, urban designer. (Photo w/ model dressed in all black)

Joann Berman: This filmmaker has also dressed Rihanna. The liner notes for her runway show describes her collection as “street-meets-burlesque.” (Photo w/ model dressed in multi-colors)
Samantha Pleet: She makes her clothes in New York from organic materials. She’s said to be a favorite of “creative types.”
Susan Cianciolo: Take your grandma’s favorite dress to this designer and she’ll remake it into something modern and fabulous for you. Once you get bored with it, take it back to her and she’ll redesign it again.

WeKnow.TV saw their collections at The Green Shows: Eco Fashion Week, which coincided with New York’s recent fashion week, and was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The Green Shows also included designers/labels: Auralis, Bright Young Things, Dress Reform, Lavuk, Luis Valenzuela, and the Milliners Guild. See ecouterre.com for further info on these and other designers and sustainable design.

Speaking of environmentally friendly garments, the Museum at FIT (New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology) is currently showing: Eco-Fashion: Going Green, through Nov. 13. Better get going. Better get green.
