Just like New York, Toronto’s Fashion Week featured designers who showed at the main event/venue, LG Fashion Week at Heritage Court, and designers who presented shows elsewhere. Designers/labels of note who didn’t show at LG Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 include:
Lundstrom (garments shown in photo): This womenswear label, founded in 1974 by award winning Canadian designer Linda Lundstrom, is known for its outwear, such as the LaPARKA, and for its size range, from 2 to 24. For fall/winter 2010, the label launched a new line, Lundstrom Collection.
Dsquared2: Designers and twin brothers, they’re favorities of musicians such as Madonna, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake.
Sand: This Danish label has a store in Toronto and held a midnight fashion show at Maison Mercer during LG Fashion Week. Their drinks in hand, onlookers crowded the stage at the popular nightclub to see the men and women models in suits, A-line dresses, and sportswear, cut in the once again popular 1950s “Mad Men” style. Danish couple Lene and Soeren Sand launched their company in the 1980s.
Stone Anchor: This eco-friendly luxury jewelry line is a favorite of British industrialist and Virgin Airlines founder Sir Richard Branson and features raw semi-precious stones in rugged metal settings. Each stone is said to have its own vibration and properties, which enhances and balances the energy of the person who wears it.
