Jewelry Industry Expo Focuses on How to Thrive

Jewelry designers, manufacturers and retailers talked about the state of their industry last week at the Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America (MJSA) Expo New York. The verdict (according to a few of them I talked with): not that bad and getting better. J. Timothy Ouhrabka of Providence Chain Co. says the industry is doing much better now compared to 18 months ago.
That said, presenters at the expo March 14-16 at the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan still focused on how to further improve business. Presentations included: “Not Just Surviving, But Winning,” “Focus on the Future” and “Profiting by Design.” On its Web site, MJSA states its mission as being: "To provide the resources and support necessary for U.S.-based jewelry designers, manufacturers and suppliers to compete successfully."
