What to See at the NY Independent Intl Film Fest

There were a lot of creative types talking about their innovative, extraordinary, informative and interesting projects at the opening party for the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival last night. Today and in the next few days (‘cuz I’ll add to this blog post), I’ll highlight a few of the films and art projects I learned about. Did I mention that the New York International Art Festival is going on, as well?
Screenings for the film festival are at Village East Cinemas, 181 Second Ave. Check the Web site for the schedule. At 8 p.m. today I’m going to try to see “Making a Difference: The Ascent Youth Alliance to Battle Autism,” a documentary about how three brothers – inspired by their younger brother who has autism – founded 4BOYS ABA. Free copies of the documentary were being distributed at the party, but I’d like to see it on the big screen.

The guys behind “Hard to Be Me” (which will be screened 4:15 p.m., Sunday) enthusiastically told me about their film, a story that revolves around Kevin, a video blogger and art school student, and others who create video blogs (AKA vlogs).

More to come …
