Ask any woman, or well groomed man, and they'll tell you that a good pair of tweezers is hard to come by and cherished when found. Well that perfect tweezers has just been reinvented to be more fun thanks to the collaboration between Tweezerman and the one and only Betsey Johnson.
Tweezerman gave the designer free rein to design 3 versions of the essential beauty tool. The result is a limited edition tweezers line donning three iconic Betsey prints – white with big pink flowers, pink with white skulls and black with pink Marilyn Monroe heads.
This isn’t the first time that Tweezerman has teamed up with a designer to funk up their tools. In 2009 the company had a very successful run with international designer Agatha Ruiz De La Prada as their guest designer. The choice to partner was Betsey was really about aligning Tweezerman “with a top American Brand that was trendsetting and consistently fashion forward” according to CEO and President of Tweezerman International, Dr. Cornelia Wittke.
The party itself was great! Hosted by Behrman Communications at the Betsey store in Soho, the atmosphere was fun and friendly. The Behrman staff was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable and the Betsey Johnson staff was decked out in funky clothes. Impossibly tall, thin woman dressed in black walked around serving a selection of delicious bite sized desserts, including cupcakes, éclairs, squares and tarts. The bar was serving champagne, martinis, water and sparkling grapefruit juice. Ramy from Ramy’s Brow Bar, along with two talented assistants, was on hand to give free eye brow shapings with the funky tweezers.
The moment the perpetually youthful Betsey entered the store the energy changed to one that was slightly electric. People crowded around in an attempt to snap a quick picture or,steal a few coveted minutes of her time to relay their love for her and brand. With champagne in hand the fun loving designer worked her way through the room, meeting everyone in reach with genuine appreciation of their attendance. She could be seen hamming it up with employees and PR reps and playing with the tweezers.
When asked what drew her to work with Tweezerman, her answer was simple “they asked”. Known for always doing things out of the box the fashion icon jumped on the opportunity to put her favorite pop art prints on a new canvas. Not sure how anyone could chose between the three – better buy all three to save yourself the agony of deciding! What’s left to say except these are some great looking tweezers!
