Karl Lagerfeld Honored by the Couture Council

Day 2 of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York: WeKnow.TV is headed to Avery Fisher Hall where Karl Lagerfeld will be presented with the 2010 Couture Council Fashion Visionary Award. Tickets to the sold-out event started at $1,000. For more info on the award, FIT and the Museum at FIT see: http://www.fitnyc.edu/8693.asp
In the white tents at Lincoln Center today are Guli Collections (designed by the Uzbek president’s daughter), top Japanese designer Tadashi Shoji, and CFDA menswear award winner Duckie Brown. And that’s just part of the morning line up. See the schedule and designer bios here: http://www.mbfashionweek.com/
In New York and big cities across the U.S., it’s Fashion’s Night Out, which means there will be “fab” fashion, entertainment, music, food, shopping and other events at boutiques, department stores, restaurants, and other venues. WeKnow.TV aims to be everywhere.
Day 1 at MBFW: stand-out shows included Bensoni, which described its spring/summer 2010 collection as “bourgeois bohemian meets cybergoth” – which translated into neon colors, sheer silks, graphic patterns, cinched waists and loose cut skirts and blouses; and Concept Korea, which featured three designers, graphic video backscreens, models wearing what looked to be 8” heels (so high the first model down the runway fell), lots of knit leggings (some with mesh fronts), layering, tucks and details, details, details. Plus can’t forget Christian Siriano, who ended his afternoon show with a red gown that looked to have a lava flow of ruffles cascading from its one shoulder down and across to its hem. Photographers were still talking about that dress and that show at nightfall.
