Premier Vision Fall 2013/14 Trade Show


On July 11 & 12 2012 Première Vision previewed the fall / winter 2013-14 fabric collections from 111 major international suppliers from around the world, representing 16 countries. The company, Première Vision is one of the leading organizations in the fair business today. The French owned company has been organizing textiles and fashion trade fairs since 1973, with exhibitions in Paris, Shanghai, Beijing, Moscow, Japan, and New York. Held at the prestigious Metropolitan Pavilion & Altman building in New York, Premiere Vision is the best way for designers, buyers, and fashion’s crème de la crème to view the latest in global fabric and trends in areas such as knitwear, sportswear, activewear, swimwear, outerwear, eco friendly fabrics, trims, and the latest innovation all under one roof. The show also uniquely displays the seasons color trends on a huge wall for all to see and be inspired. Color cards are available for sale during the show with several additions and although expensive, are definitely worth getting. Pictures are not allowed, but for designers on a budget, the color names can copy down for future reference. During the two days, seminars are also presented and discussed by fashion experts offering a clear and precise perception of what the season’s direction, trends, and themes are.




Once again, for the second year in a row, Première Vision showcased the winners of the Hyères Festival of fashion and photography. Since 2011, Premiere Vision is one of many prizes awarded during the competition. The winner receives a 10,000 euro prize and material support from Première Vision. The Hyères Festival has been a yearly competition since 1986. Held in the southern French town of Hyères, ten finalists are chosen from around the world and are judged by a group of renowned industry professionals. This year the 2012 jury was presided over by Yohji Yamamoto. With help from the exhibiters at Premiere Vision, ModAmont, and Expofil, the designers are given the supplies needed to create their collection. This year’s winner is Ragne Kikas with her women’s knitwear collection called “Dress Code” inspired by 15 and 16 century suit of armor.

The other nine  finalist were Jasmina Barshovi from Switzerland with a Men’s Collection, Kim Choong-Wilkins from United Kingdom a with Men’s Collection, Narelle Dore from Australia with a Women’s Collection, Daniel Hurlin fromFrance with a Men’s Collection, Elina Laitinen, Siiri Raasakka & Tiia Siren from Finland with a Men’s Collection, Maxime Rappaz from Switzerland with a Women’s Collection, Paula Selby Avellaneda from Argentina with a Women’s Collection, Lucas Sponchiado from Belgium with a Women’s Collection, and Steven Tai from Canada with a Women’s Collection.
