Gen Art's Plastics Make It Possible

Plastics rule my world! As you can imagine, I was stoked to be attending Gen Art's Plastics Make It Possible event (on February 10th, 2010). The event was held at Drive In Studios (443 W 18th) in Manhattan, New York. Very exciting, the evening was a celebration of the involvement of plastics in the textile and fashion industry.

Much of today's clothing is somehow infused with plastic. Celebs dazzled onlookers as they posed on the red-carpet in ultra chic looks. The crowd was a sleek mix of industry well-knowns and fashionista...and also a hint of scientist (heck, I met an engineer!)...

Blacks and grays adorned models at first... and then reds and yellows were introduced into the mix. Various textures and fabrics were shown. Some fabrics were ultra glitzy and shiny... and I was drawn to them! My favorite look was a dress that had shoulder armor, but was still very modern looking! Models changed in and out of outfits and acted as live mannequins on raised square blocks. Guests enjoyed cocktails and created their own beverages at the "muddle your own mojito bar". The whole evening seemed to ignite inspiration and nurture creativity!
